Learning to drive with a hand difference

Aussie Hands provides information and resources about learning to drive with a hand difference.

This information was developed from a Transurban community grant funded workshop for young learner drivers with a hand difference in Victoria in February 2020.

Occupational Therapist, VicRoads-accredited Occupational Therapy Driving Assessor and Co-convener of the driving special interest group through Occupational Therapy Australia, Janene Strahan, highlighted that there are experts available to advise individuals and their families on topics such negotiating the Vic Roads processes and procedures and spinner knob options for one handed driving.

Aussie Hands members are also available to share their experiences of learning to drive and driving different types of vehicles. For example, VIC Aussie Hands Ambassador, David Serpell is contactable to discuss with members his approach to driving and his passion for cars.
